...Op de Amstel ontstaan

Amstel Ensemble

Het AmstelensembIe is in 2024 ontstaan op de Amstel in Amsterdam.

The Amstel Ensemble was born by chance — and by the river. One afternoon, while Portuguese horn player Simão Fonseca was practicing by the Amstel, Dutch pianist Anne-Marie Bloemen stopped to listen. That spontaneous encounter by the water grew into a musical partnership that now flows with the same spirit of curiosity and connection.

Rooted in Amsterdam, the Amstel Ensemble brings together two musicians from different backgrounds who share a love for expressive, intimate performance. Their programs range from lyrical classics to lesser-known gems, always seeking to create meaningful moments between performers and listeners.

Since their founding, Simão and Anne-Marie have shared music in diverse settings — from heartfelt concerts in retirement homes across Amsterdam to performances on stages everywhere . Wherever they play, their goal remains the same: to bring warmth, beauty, and a sense of togetherness through the sound of horn and piano.
